Every Child Deserves
a Better Future

Supporting the Kirinya Children's Centre in Uganda. Providing quality education, nutrition, and care to vulnerable children.

Welcome to Helen Margaret Owen Foundation

It is our heart to support the most vulnerable children in education, to raise their prospects and unlock a better future for generations to come.

Our students come from very poor backgrounds and we are currently caring for 70 orphans. We were founded to provide a quality education to children who wouldn't otherwise be able to go to school.

The Kirinya Children's Centre started as a small makeshift school with just a few planks of wood and iron sheets. Today, it has grown into a thriving educational institution serving nearly 300 children, with permanent classrooms, boarding facilities, and vocational training programs.

Your donation will not only directly benefit the children, but you are also helping to build a thriving community in Namataba, Uganda.

Helen Margaret Owen

Our Founder Helen Margaret Owen

After taking early retirement, Helen Owen visited Uganda and her life went in a direction she had never expected. Her experience was life-changing, for her and also for the Children in the village of Namataba.

From humble beginnings with a makeshift school made of planks and iron sheets, the Kirinya Centre now provides high quality nursery and primary school education and is at the hub of a vibrant and thriving community.

"I saw the potential and possibilities. I visualised a road running through the area — and it's now under construction, linking Entebbe Airport to Kenya. I kept all these things in my heart and in 2015, I bought the land to secure that area for the community," says Helen.

In 2019 we became a small charity under the Charity Commission for England and Wales (Charity Number: 1185306). Today, we support nearly 300 pupils and care for over 70 orphans.
