The Kirinya Vocational Training Centre has achieved Level 3 certification from the Uganda Vocational Qualifications Framework (UVQF), making it one of only 15 certified vocational centres in Wakiso District.
This certification follows a rigorous 6-month inspection and assessment process that evaluated:
- Training curriculum and teaching methodologies
- Instructor qualifications and expertise
- Facilities and equipment standards
- Student assessment and evaluation systems
- Graduate employment and entrepreneurship outcomes
- Quality assurance mechanisms
"This certification validates what we have known for years - our vocational training program produces skilled, employable graduates who are ready to work or start their own businesses," said Vocational Coordinator Sarah Namukwaya.
The certification allows the centre to offer nationally recognized qualifications in:
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Tailoring and Fashion Design
- Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy
- Catering and Hospitality
Graduates will now receive certificates that are recognized across Uganda, improving their employment prospects significantly. The certification has already led to partnerships with 8 local businesses that have agreed to hire our graduates and 3 companies that have sponsored equipment for the workshops.
"The impact has been immediate," said Country Director Geoffrey Kamya. "We have seen a 200% increase in applications for our vocational programs since receiving this certification."
